Treatments
All kinds of skin problems can be assessed at The Wye Clinic. If your condition needs a biopsy, or perhaps surgical treatment, you have our assurance that this will all take place within the luxurious surroundings of the clinic. We also guarantee that all treatments carried out at The Wye Clinic will be with a local anaesthetic, with no need for costly general anaesthetic procedures. Where medication is needed, our consultants will be delighted to issue you with a prescription. As with all treatments available at The Wye Clinic, finance options for your surgery are available.
Aesthetic treatments
If your concern is more an aesthetic one, perhaps some skin wrinkles or laugher lines, our aesthetic team would be delighted to see you for an assessment, possibly for Botox therapy or consideration of cosmetic surgery.

Dr James Powell

Dr James Powell is a local consultant dermatologist who specialises in diagnosing and treating skin cancers and lesions, inflammatory skin reactions and dermatoses, offering surgery to patients of all ages. James has always been passionate about patient care and the team at The Wye Clinic are exceptionally proud to have him working with us.
James is the Clinical Lead of the British Medical Journal Dermatology Team of the Year in 2021 and continues to have a busy and diverse role in the NHS, practising at Wye Valley NHS Trust. He also runs a specialist tertiary referral clinic at University Hospital Wales Cardiff, focusing on skin conditions provoked or worsened by sunlight; patients travel from all over the country to see him.
James continues to teach dermatology locally, nationally and internationally and has had many publications in some of the most highly-respected peer-reviewed journals in the world. He has also authored a successful book on photodermatology.
James graduated from Guys’ and St Thomas’ Medical School in London in 2007. He also achieved a First Class Degree in medical microbiology, with a focus on infectious diseases. He has recently been awarded a prestigious NHS Digital & Data Award (2022) as a champion of digital technology.

You will find us easily in central Hereford. There is ample on-site parking, and we are very close to the new development, Old Market Shopping Centre and Waitrose. There is no need for a referral, nor do you need to have private medical insurance. Finance options are available for all our procedures, if required.
